The release of my Extasis project is on hold until I see some more revenue from stock music sales. I’m in the middle of a sales slump that’s now more than a week old. I don’t want to spend money on setting up a new release until I’m confident I can cover next month’s bills. I could release it through DistroKid, but I’m trying to wean myself off of them. I already removed one of my singles from there.
I had sent a question to ASCAP asking about exempting certain outlets from performance royalty obligations. If I can do that, I plan to throw some of my outtakes on Bandcamp so if anyone wants them they can get them there. No response as yet. It doesn’t surprise me that they’re in no hurry.
I have a couple of new items in the pipeline at Pond5. The first is a big dramatic orchestral cue for cliffhanger or tension-building scenes.
I also have a new addition to my new “Happy Sounds” collection. It’s a pretty little thing that’ll remind you of warm weather fun. It’ll be available in :60, :30, :15 and bumper versions.
The book project has stalled, but I hope to return to it this week.
I must confess, I’m starting to wonder if I’m doing all this out of vanity. I have no evidence that my social media promotional and content management is having any effect on my sales. And I’m beginning to think I’m writing these updates just for myself. Am I wasting time that could be put to better use?
Who knows. Maybe this is just a brief lull and I’ll feel better about things next week. Or maybe I’ll just go back to a static web page. More on that later. Or not.
If you should happen to read this, I hope you have a happy and productive week.
